PERFORMING ARTIST
Hailed by the London Critics for his "virtuoso playing", and American Critics for his "sumptuous and richly expressive" performances, award winning violinist, Andrew Smith has garnered a reputation as a "21st Century artist", shining new light on classic repertoire and providing a spotlight for new music. He made his London Debut in 1992 at the Royal Festival Hall to critical acclaim. He made his US Debut closing the 2004 Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, broadcast live from Chicago's Cultural Center. He made his Chinese debut as soloist with the Nanjing Symphony in 2003. He has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe, America and China and at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, La Salle Gaveaux, the British Embassy, Paris, Detroit's Orchestra Hall and Chicago's Symphony Hall.
His concerts have been broadcast on BBC Radio, NPR stations WSHU, WFMT, WTTW and on public television in England, Portugal, Italy, China and the US. He was awarded a special commendation for his 2012 release of the complete Beethoven sonatas by the American Prize. In 2022 he released the first live recording of Mozart's complete violin sonatas and fragments, with renowned Scholar Cliff Eisen, editor of the Complete Mozart Encyclopedia.....

His former students occupy positions in the Boulder Symphony, the Austin Symphony, the Rotterdam Symphony, the London Symphony, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. He has appeared as guest artist for the American String Teachers Associations and given master classes at conservatoires, colleges, universities around the world
EDUCATION
A critically acclaimed curator of concerts series and creative force behind music festivals in the US and UK, Andrew has served as President of CT's Professional Choir, CONCORA, President of the Fairfield County String Teachers Association. He serves on the Advisory Board of WSHU Radio. was a guest artist on the Greater Hartford Arts Council Grant Committee. Since 2005 he has been Executive Director of the Suzuki Music Schools.
